Our Flock

Our home is usually a pretty loud place,we have a flock of 5 and boy do they make some noise. As soon as the sun starts to rise out African Gray starts her morning routine of everything in her vocabulary of words and sound effects, then the others start a while later but those are more screams. You definitely know it’s morning just like when the outdoor birds start their morning with their chirps and calls our flock does so at the next level. When we get home as soon as we shut our truck door they just like our dogs hear us and they start a squawking welcoming us home. Its quiet at breakfast and dinner and sometimes it’s like taking care of a bunch of kindergarteners, they get into squabbles and get into things they should not, make messes, leave their area,be mean,be sweet enjoy when they get to go outside,be demanding and full of love.

Meet our flock

Mattie – African Gray 20 years old.We picked her as a baby no feathers just a cute and ugly thing with a block head.We made weekly visits until it she was old enough to go home with us.The breeder thought that Mattie was a male well a few years ago Mattie laid an egg every so often she will do so.She has a very large vocabulary of words and sound effects!!

Decker- Green Winged Macaw 20 year old female,we adopted her a few years ago from the Gabriel Foundation in Elizabeth Colorado as with the rest of the flock,Mattie is the only one that we raised. She knows how to count says what and knows a variety of barnyard sounds, and love to tear buttons off of shirts.

Captain Collor- Blue and Gold Macaw -35 years old a male,he’s a big boy overweight and has arthritis. He waves to you to say hi and will open his big wings and loves having his head scratched.

Ollie- Military Macaw 35 years old she’s kinda mean likes to pick a fight this is her first home with a family but she is learning to get along and can be sweet, her and Captain Collor like to walk around the bird room together.

Pea- Catalina Macaw 35 years old and he’s my plucker.I wanted to adopt a plucker and my husband said he was very vain about his birds so no way, well I set up some meetings at the Gabriel Foundation to visit some pluckers and when he met Pea he fell in love,Pea was supposed to be mine because all of our birds favor him…Well when we brought Pea home who makes his day….not me but my husband. So he tells Pea ya know you are only here because of her.
